InfoTrends/CAP Ventures Launches Content-Centric Collaboration Study

(Weymouth, MA) May 12, 2004…Collaboration is a growing focus for a range of businesses and processes, and the intersection between the collaboration of content and documents is of particular interest. To further explore this hotbed of activity, InfoTrends/CAP Ventures is launching a new Research Report entitled Content-Centric Collaboration, which will analyze business drivers and define the role of technology and solutions in facilitating collaboration.

All types of organizations share this growing focus on collaboration. The following business drivers are contributing to this increased interest:

  • Making business processes  more efficient
  • Installing innovation and cross-pollination through knowledge management
  • Unifying cross-department, intra-company, and geographically-dispersed project teams
  • Incorporating customers in the decision-making process
  • Engaging and inspiring communities of practice
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures

The study will analyze the key trends of content-centric collaboration with respect to dynamic content technologies, outline the components involved in various initiatives, and describe how technology and process changes are being implemented to enable organizations to more effectively communicate and conduct business.

“Although the motivations for content-centric collaboration might be clear, the capabilities necessary to support it are not as understood, and the same can be said about which technologies are best suited to help solve the problem,” commented Michael Maziarka, a Director at InfoTrends/CAP Ventures. “This study aims to shed light on the requirements for content-centric collaboration, the types of capabilities needed, and the plans for which technologies will be deployed to facilitate it.”

The study consists of structured primary market research and in-depth user case studies. 250 IT and Line-of-Business professionals will participate in the Web-based survey, and the final document will include 5-10 customer case studies.

The research for this project will begin in June 2004. Case study profiles will be conducted between May and July, and the final report will be published in August.
