(Weymouth, MA) October 10, 2008 . . . A new InfoTrends survey has revealed that the vast majority of professional photographers are incorporating the Web into their businesses. Respondents with a Web presence indicated that the Internet currently accounts for more than a quarter of their total revenues, up from one fifth of revenues in 2007. The most common reasons offered for leveraging the Web were marketing and image hosting services. The most popular reason for not using the Internet cited by the small percentage of respondents that have yet to incorporate the Web into their business was a lack of business to justify the investment and time required to set up a Web site. InfoTrends’ Director Mette Eriksen commented, “Web service providers have a great opportunity to assist many resource-strapped photography businesses with services for improving their Web presence and, ultimately, growing their business. The challenge is determining what services to offer and which types of photographers these services should be marketed to.” InfoTrends’ report Digital Imaging and Professional Photographers: 2008 Survey Results examines the digital photography behaviors of professional photographers, including the equipment they own; what they plan to buy in the future; how many digital images they take, save, store, and print; and the types of software they use. Where appropriate, this document also considers how the results from this year’s survey compare to the results from previous years.
