(Weymouth, MA) October, 11 2004... The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced that InfoTrends/CAP Ventures will offer “Flash Forward 2.0” at the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). This showcase is designed to again raise retailers’ level of awareness about the rapidly growing digital imaging opportunity. Between 2003 and 2004, the U.S. digital camera market will again nearly double, reaching 22.8 million units in 2004. This is a huge retail market opportunity, making it one of the fastest growing consumer electronics markets. The 2005 International CES, the world's largest annual consumer technology tradeshow, runs January 6-9 in Las Vegas , Nevada. To highlight the growing importance of digital photography to the consumer electronics category, Flash Forward will be featured in the Central Plaza, which is adjacent to the heavily trafficked Central Hall. Flash Forward 2.0 will provide retailers with a first-hand look at state-of-the-market developments, arming them with the knowledge necessary to guide consumers through the process of shooting, storing, sharing, printing, and displaying pictures and images. As the home to digital photography at CES, Flash Forward is designed to educate, inform, and offer critical, real solutions to retailers. "There are tremendous opportunities in digital imaging, but with these opportunities come numerous challenges,” said Charles A. Pesko, Jr., Managing Director for InfoTrends/CAP Ventures. “Over 40 percent of U.S. households now own a digital camera, yet preferences among various digital camera user segments vary greatly. As an industry, how will we redefine the photography experience for everyone? How will those responsible for providing the latest and greatest technologies work together to provide the right solutions to the right group of consumers? Flash Forward 2.0 will confront these challenges and more.” “Adding Flash Forward 2.0 to the 2005 International CES reinforces our mission to grow the consumer electronics industry and define tomorrow’s technology for consumers,” exclaimed Karen Chupka, Vice President of Events and Conferences for the Consumer Electronics Association, the producer of the International CES. “This ¢Flash Forward 2.0¢offering from InfoTrends/CAP Ventures will enhance the attendees experience by providing sought-after knowledge of digital imaging.” Photojournalists at CES can enter the “FOCUS on CES Photo Contest,” sponsored by CEA’s Digital Imaging Special Interest Group, by submitting their best photos from the 2005 International CES. Entries must be submitted at the contest kiosk in the Flash Forward TechZone by 6:00 p.m. on January 8. Winners will be announced the final day of the show and will receive a digital imaging prize. In addition to previewing the latest in digital imaging while visiting "Flash Forward 2.0,” CES media will have the opportunity to network with select retailers, catch up on the latest digital imaging research and forecast trends, and interview digital imaging industry experts and senior executives.
