(Weymouth, MA) June 30, 2004… According to a recent InfoTrends/CAP Ventures survey, almost 60% of print service providers expect their revenues from document imaging and image capture services to almost double over the next two years. Though starting from a fairly small base, these services provide higher margins and offer higher growth rates than traditional print services. To examine these new opportunities, InfoTrends/CAP Ventures has generated a new research report entitled Profile of Image Capture and Content Management Services offered by Print Providers in the United States. This report summarizes research that InfoTrends/CAP Ventures conducted in conjunction with OutputLinks and WhatTheyThink.com, which questioned print service providers and print customers about service offerings in the imaging and content management domains. With increasing price pressures and slowing print demand, print service providers are increasing the range of ancillary and value-added services that they offer. Image capture services and content management services are two areas of opportunity for the savvy print service provider. Research from InfoTrends/CAP Ventures indicates that over 75% of print customers use some type of image capture service, and just over 41% of respondents utilize basic content management services. Currently, image capture and content management services account for only 6% - 17% of print service providers’ total revenue. To capitalize on this emerging opportunity, print service providers must do a better job at articulating the value of image capture and content management services to their customers. One way to accomplish this may be to develop partnerships between PSPs and imaging service bureaus. These partnerships may offer benefits to all stakeholders, offering convenience and access to best-of-breed technologies for customers, revenue opportunities for service providers, and an additional channel for service bureaus. “As corporations seek to streamline their workflows and internal business processes, they seek to reduce the number of vendors and suppliers they work with,” commented Holly Muscolino, a Director at InfoTrends/CAP Ventures. “Service providers that offer imaging and content services, either on their own or in partnership with other service providers, will provide innovation, cost savings, a broader range of services, and superior customer service to their clients.” The new research report is available immediately to clients of InfoTrends/CAP Ventures’ North American Production Workflow Solutions Consulting Service.
