InfoTrends Launches Landmark Study on Opportunity for Capture in Latin America


(Weymouth, MA) May 20, 2010 . . . InfoTrends has announced the launch of a landmark multi-client study entitled The Opportunity for Capture in Latin America. As the U.S. and Western European scanner markets are reaching maturity, competition in these markets is becoming increasingly intense. This makes it essential for vendors to look to alternative lucrative global markets to diversify their product reach. The emerging markets will remain big targets for profitable business growth over the next twenty years, and Latin America in particular represents one of the largest growth opportunities for scanning and imaging vendors.

While the opportunity is undeniable, accessing this region requires significant acumen. The Latin American markets have idiosyncrasies ranging from governmental regulations to purchasing requirements of customers. End-user behavior and buying patterns are unique in each of these regions and understanding these differences is critical to sustaining business growth. This study will help equipment vendors and suppliers understand the dynamics and industry impact of the Latin American markets and provide them with the knowledge that is necessary to successfully gain access to them.

Understanding customers’ current preferences – how, what, when, where, and at what price – will be the most challenging obstacle to vendors trying to grow or enter the Latin American markets. This study aims to:

  • Understand the future and importance of scanning
  • Determine what customers are willing to pay or not pay for in scanning
  • Examine customers’ purchasing decisions and methods
  • Evaluate what channels will be able to deliver these future technologies most effectively
  • Determine what the market today is for electronic scans (page volumes) and what the scan forecast is for the future

Primary research for this project will include a structured telephone survey with end-users in the Latin America region as well as personal interviews with channel participants offering scanning solutions and leading vendors of scanners.
