InfoTrends Launches Landmark Study on the European TransPromo Opportunity

(Weymouth, MA) March 30, 2009 . . . Transaction documents, long considered a utilitarian means of communicating information to customers, are a cost of doing business. Marketing organizations, however, have come to view these transaction documents as an essential customer communications platform, using them as a primary vehicle for delivering preprinted inserts. Today, these communications are becoming increasingly customized, as static inserts are shifting to dynamic, customized “onserts,” also known as TransPromo communications.

InfoTrends has conducted substantial research on the TransPromo opportunity in North America, including last year’s study entitled Trans Meets Promo…Is It More than Market Hype?. After releasing this study, we have had requests from technology providers and service providers alike to extend this research into Europe. This demand has been catalyzed by the fact that the European market has unique characteristics that directly impact the use of TransPromo in this region. Examples include Europe’s strict data protection and privacy regulations, the liberalization of the postal market; and differences in consumer behavior, ethics, and business conduct across Europe.

InfoTrends is pleased to announce the launch of a major multi-client study entitled Trans Meets Promo: A European Perspective that will focus quantitative research in France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. As part of this landmark study, InfoTrends will interview over 2,000 consumers and 500 document owners, marketing professionals, and agency executives. We will also conduct in-depth interviews with more than 20 print/mail service providers across Western Europe.

To develop a unique set of best practices specific to Europe, this study will:

  • Identify the current state, future prospects, and market size for transaction documents, transpromotional documents, acquisition direct mail, and retention direct mail
  • Reveal how marketing executives are assessing their channels and evaluating success
  • Assess the changing requirements of consumers, segmented by typical demographics
  • Examine market opportunities for high-speed print technology and software solutions

Trans Meets Promo: A European Perspective will provide document technology vendors and service providers with critical information for developing product/service portfolios and strategic business plans that will help them capture revenue from direct mail and transaction-based document applications.

Early subscriber discounts are available until May 15, 2009. Clients that sign up before this date will have the opportunity to review and provide input on the interview guides prior to deployment. For more information, please contact:
