InfoTrends Releases New Report in Spotlight on Moms Series


(Weymouth, MA) February 05, 2009 . . . InfoTrends is please to announce the release of a new report in its Spotlight on Moms series. This report, Spotlight on Moms: Retail Photo Printing, examines the preferences and behaviors of moms, defined as females ages 25 and 44 with children under age 12, in relation to retail photo printing.

It is undeniable that moms represent a highly lucrative market segment in all aspects of digital photography. InfoTrends’ research shows that this demographic takes, prints, and shares more photos than the general population. In fact, while the total survey population from this study reported printing just under 33 photos every 3 months, moms with children under 7 reported printing nearly 43 photos over the same time period.  What’s more, InfoTrends’ research indicates that moms are more open than other consumers to retail and online photo printing methods.

As some consumers are printing fewer photos and migrating to electronic and other sharing methods, vendors must channel their efforts to target the groups that are still actively printing photos. While moms certainly represent a substantial opportunity for photo printing vendors, this consumer segment exhibits unique habits and preferences relative to all aspects of digital photography. Vendors must gain insight into the motivations and desires of these consumers to effectively gain access to them.

David Haueter, Associate Director of InfoTrends’ Photo Printing Trends Service, commented, “Our research indicates that moms may be more likely than other consumers to respond to advertising efforts on the part of vendors. For instance, moms were more likely to print when they receive promotional offers for low per-print costs or free shipping. Retail and online printing operations must ensure that their special pricing promotions are reaching mothers.”
