Asia-Pacific Digital Camera Market to Surpass North American Market by 2013

(Weymouth, MA) January 21, 2009. . . According to InfoTrends’ latest worldwide consumer digital camera forecast, unit shipments of digital cameras in the Asia-Pacific region will surpass North America by 2013 for the first time ever. This region will represent more than a quarter of all digital camera shipments in 2013, making it the world’s second largest digital camera market, behind the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.

The Asia-Pacific region is the fastest growing market for digital cameras. Mette Eriksen, Director at InfoTrends, commented, “This growth is being fuelled by a combination of large populations and increasing wealth. These factors enabled China to take nearly half of all digital camera sales in Asia-Pacific during 2008, and this share is only expected to increase over the forecast period.”

Available immediately for purchase, InfoTrends’ Worldwide Consumer Digital Camera Forecast Summary: 2008-2013 provides a top-line, five-year forecast for the EMEA region, North America, Japan, the Asia-Pacific region, and Latin America in terms of unit shipments and revenues. Detailed coverage of the Western European and North American markets is available in separate forecast reports on these regions.
