Channel Dynamics Projected to Impact U.S. and Western European Photo Print Markets

According to an exciting new forecast report from InfoTrends, photo print volume in the U.S. will grow to a peak of 22 billion prints in 2011. The report, entitled U.S. Consumer Photo Prints Market Forecast: 2007-2012, also indicates that prints made at retail locations will grow to 12.5 billion by 2012. Retail will be the most popular location for photo printing, increasing from 49% of the print market in 2007 to 58% of the print market by 2012.

Another recently released report from InfoTrends entitled Western European Digital Photo Prints Forecast: 2007-2012 indicates that retail printing will be the main volume driver in Western Europe as well, as the retail market segment is expected to command 46% of market volumes by 2012. Unlike in the U.S., however, a higher share of revenues stems from home printing than any other method in Western Europe. Although the share of revenue from home photo printing is projected to decline, it will still take the major share of the revenue cake over the next 5 years.

Overall total market volumes in Western Europe are expected to increase by 27% by 2012, but market value is forecasted to decline. The forecast report examines in detail the continued price competition and erosion that will account for this drop in revenue.

InfoTrends’ report, U.S. Consumer Photo Prints Market Forecast: 2007-2012, estimates volumes and revenue for prints made at home, online, at retail, and at work through the forecast period. It also forecasts prints according to the capture device used to take the photos. In addition, consumer printing trends that impact the forecast are examined.

The Western European Digital Photo Prints Forecast: 2007-2012 highlights market trends that will influence the European digital photo print market over the next 5 years. The report provides detailed volume and revenue forecasts and offers insight into consumer behaviours that will shape the print market in Europe's five largest markets. Detailed volume and revenue estimates are also broken down into print location (channel) forecasts for each major market.

These reports are essential planning tools for any organization dependent on building revenue streams from consumer digital photo printing. To obtain more information on either report or to make a purchase, visit InfoTrends’ online store or contact Robyn Wuori at ext. 109 or via e-mail at .
