Color Laser Users Demonstrate Positive Attitudes toward Non-OEM Toner Supplies despite Short Supply of Quality Products

(Weymouth, MA) February 04, 2008… A recent research study from InfoTrends shows that users of color laser printers continue to have positive attitudes toward the use of aftermarket color laser toner even though quality products are in very short supply. Business users indicated that they have more confidence in the quality and reliability of aftermarket toner than home users.

The multiclient study through which this data was uncovered focuses on the color laser printer supplies market in the U.S. and also includes some baseline questions on monochrome laser supplies. In addition to consumers’ attitudes toward OEM vs. aftermarket brands, the study examines purchase habits related to color laser cartridges, acceptance of auto supplies ordering, preferences related to all-in-one vs. separate toner and drum cartridges, color printing trends, color laser applications/media, color laser paper, and other topical issues.

The report provides answers to questions such as:

  • What type of printing equipment are consumers using?
  • What factors affect consumers’ decisions related to toner purchases?
  • Where are consumers purchasing toner?
  • To what extent are businesses restricting access to color laser printing devices?
  • What applications are consumers in various demographics printing on their color laser devices?
  • Many other topical issues

InfoTrends’ statistics are part of a new series of user survey reports aimed at gaining insight into multiple hot topics in the imaging supplies market. The reports focus on end-user buying behavior and usage patterns for supplies across the home and corporate environments. There are a total of four studies focused on emerging trends related to inkjet ink, color laser toner, MFP copier toner, and paper.

Research for the  User Survey Report Series includes a blend of primary research (through structured Web surveys) as well as an extensive review of existing InfoTrends research. InfoTrends surveyed a total of 2,300 decision-makers. The end-user research illustrates brand preferences, price sensitivity, product requirements, decision tradeoffs, and other factors influencing purchasing decisions.

The executive style format of the reports will allow for a quick and easy read, and our expert analysis will go beyond the obvious and provide insight into key trends that are shaping the industry today and beyond. Each report includes:

  • An Executive Summary highlighting key issues, findings, and overall recommendations
  • A chart for each question with a bulleted summary of key points and trends
  • Data tabs, charts, and the questionnaire from the study

The reports are modular to allow for customization and flexibility in purchasing. For more information on the study or to make a purchase, please contact Scott Phinney at +1 , ext. 123 or .
