(Beijing, China & Weymouth, MA) January 2, 2008…The ON DEMAND China Printing & Publishing conference and exposition (ON DEMAND China 2007) was held at the China International Exhibition Center November 14 - 17, 2007. Event organizers InfoTrends and CIEC Exhibition Company, Ltd. announced a successful first time event that drew nearly 8,000 visitors on the show floor and over 400 attendees for the conference program.
“ON DEMAND China 2007 was a great success, drawing strong crowds and providing a focal point for the developing interest in production digital print in the Chinese market,” commented Charlie Pesko, President of InfoTrends. “The high-level government and association support from China, the presence of market-leading companies on the show floor, and the executive-level speakers in the conference sessions all speak to the impact of this event.”
The conference, which took place November 14-15, 2007, opened with remarks from a trio of Chinese printing industry luminaries. Dr. Pu of the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communications moderated this session, which featured talks from Mr. Wu Wenxiang, Honorary Director of the Printing Technology Association of China; Mr. Haixiang Shen, President of Digital Printing Sub-association at PTAC; and Mr. Harry Hsu, Strategic Planning and Development Department for the Commercial Bank of China. These speakers stressed the importance of the event and addressed the growth potential of the Print-On-Demand market in China.
Conference attendees chose from over 15 conference sessions structured in two conference tracks during the two-day program. Speakers examined key growth applications, technologies, value-added services, and other opportunities and discussed how to incorporate them into existing business strategies. The conference brought together valuable industry perspectives from consultants, digital printing users, and vendors.
The second day of the conference began with an opening address by Liu Xiaokai, Vice Director General of the Printing & Reproducing Industry Management Department of the General Administration for Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China. Mr. Xiaokai congratulated the organizers on the success of the conference and spoke about the fast pace of the growth of the digital printing market. “This is a great event for the digital printing industry and it will play a positive role in the development of the printing industry in China,” commented Mr. Xiaokai. “The printing industry in China will be better prepared to reach out to the outside world and participate in the development of the global digital printing industry.”
Mr. Xiaokai discussed how the Chinese government is encouraging innovation and promoting the increasing strength of the printing industry. He stated that printing will soon have a more prominent position in daily life, as China is entering a more prosperous era. He also remarked that the conference would help China play a more active role in the global printing industry, and encouraged the audience to continue to support this event in the future.
The exposition took place over a three-day period in Hall 9 of a multi-hall exhibition complex in Beijing. Attendees were able to see and touch the latest digital printing technologies from the industry’s leading suppliers. Over 40 renowned equipment manufacturers, software providers, and service providers were on display. Platinum sponsors included Fuji Xerox, HP, Kodak, and Océ. Silver sponsors included EFI, GMC Software, Konica Minolta, and UPM.
“We owe the success of ON DEMAND China 2007 to the great support and active participation of exhibitors and attendees from home and abroad,” commented Cathy Peng, General Manager, CIEC Exhibition Company. “We look forward to your continued support for ON DEMAND China and the digital printing market.”
