InfoTrends Launches Major Study on E-enablement Software Used for Graphic Communications

(Weymouth, MA) September 20, 2007… The worldwide Web-to-Print software market is expected to demonstrate a compound annual growth rate of 17 %, increasing from $195 million in 2006 to just over $432 million in 2011. InfoTrends estimates that about 12% of enterprise print related spending is conducted via e-enabled systems. Growth will be driven by enterprises shifting to marry print with other forms of marketing and business communications.

The electronic (“e”) enablement of business processes related to marketing, selling, buying, and producing print products has already changed the normal order of the graphic communications value chain. The market has moved in fits and starts over the past several years. With the projected mainstreaming of Web-to-Print technologies in the coming years, InfoTrends expects rapid changes to occur driven by printer market expansion, cross marketing and media integration (e.g., Print to Web), and workflow integration.

InfoTrends is launching a new study to further explore this vital market. The study, entitled,  E-enablement: The Future of Graphic Communications (North American version), will provide a complete understanding of the impact that e-business is having on today’s market and what effects it will have in the future. It will provide context and direction setting for print service providers, enterprises, equipment suppliers, and solution participants across the industry value chain.

“It is time to perform our most thorough analysis ever of the forces that are shaping this market,” commented Mike Howard, Group Director at InfoTrends.

Research for the study will consist of:

  • Extensive analysis of desk research
  • 10 to15 in-depth profiles of innovative print service providers that are exploiting e-business
  • 150 structured interviews with print service providers from populations that are using print e-business solutions, as well as populations that are not using them
  • 10 to 15 comprehensive interviews with buyers of print that are currently utilizing e-business solutions
  • 150 structured interviews with users that purchase print over the Web

InfoTrends anticipates that respondents to the in-depth and structured enterprise-user interviews will consist of employees that perform purchasing, marketing, and business operations functions.
