InfoTrends Launches Document Assessment and Optimization Study

(Weymouth, MA) July 18, 2007…On average, companies estimate that they spend between 2% and 3% of their annual revenues on document-related expenses. These same organizations acknowledge that substantial cost savings and efficiency can come from better management of office equipment and related software. Unfortunately, however, few companies have the understanding and expertise to address the problem. Opportunities exist for vendors and service providers that can clearly articulate the benefits of implementing document assessment and optimization solutions.

InfoTrends is pleased to announce the launch of a new study entitled “Document Assessment & Optimization Study,” which is designed to take an in-depth look at this emerging market.

“Through a combination of survey work, personal interviews, and desk research, we will be able to determine the market requirements, opportunities, and customer satisfaction levels for document assessment and optimization solutions within corporations of various sizes,” commented Randy Dazo, a Director at InfoTrends. “OEMs, ISVs, and facilities management companies need this information to tailor business strategies and marketing plans for future success.”

InfoTrends will conduct 600 structured surveys with mid-sized and large customers (500+ employees) to understand project size and scope; budgets, drivers, and influencers for purchases; TCO reduction expectations and results; and the overall perception of solutions. The surveys will target companies that are currently evaluating document assessments solutions as well as customers that have used tools and professional services.

In-depth interviews with users will be conducted to gain a more detailed understanding of the “user experience,” which will be critical in understanding the customer satisfaction levels and pain points in implementing cost optimization and management solutions and whether these solutions have actually met total cost of ownership reduction initiatives. Leading OEMs, ISVs, outsourcing companies, and resellers will be interviewed to probe and understand the reseller experience with various print management solutions, including customer reactions and lessons learned.

InfoTrends will complete this research by including a U.S. market forecast for document assessment and optimization tools and related professional services. The forecast will evaluate the impact on office equipment hardware, service, and supplies spending from the use of optimization tools and initiatives.
