(Weymouth, MA) June 13, 2007… The business world thrives on collaboration. Ultimately, the effective exchange of facts, experiences, ideas, and opinions between knowledge workers determines the success or failure of the enterprise. Although collaboration is the backbone of company operations, many businesses have been reluctant to invest in technology as a way to facilitate it. That is, until recently. In 2004, InfoTrends conducted its first Content-Centric Collaboration Study. Today, the company is pleased to announce the launch of an update to this ground breaking study. Content-Centric Collaboration 2007 will investigate just how much progress has been made in the past couple of years and how organizations are addressing content-centric needs from an investment, technology, and expectations perspective. With the previous research as a benchmark, this study will determine how the market is progressing and how organizations are changing as a result. In this update to the previous study, InfoTrends sets out to answer a number of questions including:
“Our first study revealed that many collaborative processes were reliant on physical communication and e-mail. There was increased focus on aiding the consumption of information, and many organizations were most concerned about user adoption of the technologies that were deployed to help them,” commented Mike Maziarka, a Director at InfoTrends. “Many things have changed since our original research, and our new study will revisit some of the crucial questions and probe deeper to understand the process changes, user adoption, and the benefits obtained from investing in content-centric collaboration solutions.” The research will analyze the key trends of content-centric collaboration, outline the technologies involved in various initiatives, describe how technology and process changes are being implemented to enable organizations to collaborate more effectively, and evaluate how the market has evolved during the two years since InfoTrends previously conducted research on this topic. This primary market research project includes two research efforts: structured primary market research and in-depth user case studies. InfoTrends will survey organizations of all sizes from various industries. With a target of over 250 responses from executives, IT employees, and line-of-business professionals from North American companies, InfoTrends will use Web-based survey techniques to explore respondents’ current and future plans related to content-centric collaboration needs and endeavors. An integral part of the study will consist of case studies about organizations that are finding innovative ways to use technology to improve content-centric collaboration processes. The report will contain four to six of these user case studies. Case study sponsorships are available for vendors with customers who are willing to share details of interesting projects, implementations, successes, and lessons learned as a result of their content-centric collaboration initiatives.
