InfoTrends Announces John Cook as Director of New Jetting Technology Opportunities Consulting Service

(Weymouth, MA) October 4, 2006…Ink-based jetting is quickly moving from direct mail, personalization, and wide format applications into the long-predicted textile, packaging, and ceramics markets. Edible inks are showing up on various food and confectionary products. In addition, the use of jetting technologies to precisely place minute quantities of non-ink fluids is creating new potential in various areas, including pharmaceutical, electronics, and bio-medical applications.

To provide an ongoing understanding of the emerging markets for inkjet systems and micro pump devices, InfoTrends has developed a new consulting service, Jetting Technology Opportunities (JTO). The service will answer the key questions to be considered when pursuing these opportunities, including:

  • What are the main drivers creating the demand for inkjet and micro pump devices?
  • What applications are a good fit for these technologies?
  • What are the product requirements and economics for those applications?
  • What are the ink requirements for the substrates to be imaged?
  • What are the typical operating environments where these applications will be carried out?
  • What are the channels to be considered in this market?
  • Who are the key players that will have an advantage in capturing this opportunity?

“Jetting technologies continue to achieve breakthroughs in price performance levels that are opening up new markets and applications,” commented John Cook, Director of InfoTrends’ JTO service. “Our new service provides an ongoing advisory program to help technology vendors identify emerging opportunities, make product development decisions, understand go-to-market issues, and maximize their market potential.”

John Cook will be Director of the JTO service. With 23 years in the digital printing industry, Mr. Cook has international experience in sales, marketing, product strategy, and business development. He has managed the development and launch of several highly successful printing systems and controller products. Mr. Cook started up and profitably grew a number of successful business units, including the Industrial Marking & Printing practice for CAP Ventures in 1996.

Prior to joining InfoTrends, he was responsible for the development and implementation of enterprise e-business and Tele-Web initiatives at IKON. Mr. Cook has held positions of increasing responsibility in product management, sales, marketing, and general management with Kodak, Domino, Dimatix, and 1&1 Internet. He majored in Printing Systems Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology.

“We are very excited to be launching this new service and have John join our company once again,” commented Jeff Hayes, Vice President and General Manager of InfoTrends. “He has an outstanding track record and extensive industry knowledge that will prove extremely valuable to our clients and company.”
