(Luton, U.K.) March 7, 2006…InfoTrends, the leading worldwide market research and strategic consulting firm for the digital imaging and document solutions industry, announces the launch of a new multi-client study entitled The Inkjet Photo Supplies Opportunity in the Home: A European Perspective. One of the fastest-growing and dynamic areas of the digital printing market is digital photo printing. The way that photos are printed as well as the location of where they are printed, however, is evolving. “Users are faced with a variety of options when considering what they will do with the images they capture,” commented Catherine Charlery a Group Director at InfoTrends. “They can choose to print the photos at home, at a retail location, store them electronically on their PC or camera phone, or share them online at photo hosting site so that others can download and print them.” This shift in consumer behavior is impacting the number of photo prints that are produced in the home. As a result, to maintain revenue growth in the home, vendors will need to stimulate usage levels to offset the competition. “Our study will take an in-depth look at what users are printing on their home inkjet device and how vendors can encourage more photo printing. The research will offer insight into what factors drive users to print photos in the home, as well as assess user attitudes to alternative forms of outputting photos,” continued Charlery. Ultimately, the research will identify market segments, critical success factors, customer requirements, usage patterns, purchase plans, and other items that will drive vendors' product, service, marketing, and sales activities. 1,500 consumers will be surveyed on their usage and perceptions regarding digital photo printing in the home. The questionnaire will split into two sections. The first section will capture information on equipment, the outputting of photos, and the impact of alternative output choices. The second section will focus on applications and supplies (ink and paper) used. In addition, InfoTrends will develop profiles of the leading applications that account for the majority of photos printed in the home. These profiles will help companies understand the product requirements and key selling messages. For more information on this study or to sign up as a participant, please contact:
