Narrowcasting Forum Series Continues, Offers New Media Opportunities for Advertisers and Retailers

(Weymouth, MA) July 24, 2002… CAP Ventures, the leader in visual communications research and consulting, is holding its second Forum on Narrowcasting entitled Opportunities for Advertisers and Retailers. The Forum will take place on November 21, 2002 at the Hilton New York, and is designed to educate the market about networked displays and in-store televisions.

“CAP Ventures’ research indicates that two of the top inhibitors for companies to deploy narrowcasting networks and utilize these services are (1) a lack of awareness of the industry players and (2) a lack of understanding of what is possible,” said Norman McLeod, a Director at CAP Ventures, Inc.

The one-day forum is designed to educate advertising agencies, retailers, and brand marketers about this new media sector. CAP Ventures has defined Narrowcasting as the distribution, management, and display of rich content in public spaces over a centrally controlled network.

The event will include presentations from industry leaders ActiveLight, Clarity Visual Systems, EBT, and Scala. These are just a few of the speakers from leading technology vendors, systems integrators, and network operators that will be offering market insight at the forum. In addition, there will be end users panels as well as a dedicated exhibit area to allow attendees to network with vendors and view new products and services. All will share experiences highlighting the opportunities and challenges for retailers, brand managers, and advertising agencies.

"CAP Ventures' last forum on Narrowcasting truly exceeded our expectations in terms of content and attendance," said Brad Gleeson, President and COO of ActiveLight, Inc. "On the basis of that experience, we not only renewed for the next two Narrowcasting events, but have partnered with CAP Ventures to contribute market research intelligence to our upcoming Digital Dynamic Signage Resource Directory, which we hope to distribute at the next conference. As a company helping to pioneer Narrowcasting, we look forward to each CAP Ventures event with great anticipation."

According to Jeff Porter, President of Scala, Inc., "If you only go to one event this year about narrowcasting, this is it." Mr. Porter was a featured speaker at the last CAP Ventures Forum earlier this year in Chicago, Illinois. He will also speak at the Forum in New York in November and considers this engagement "a one-day crash course on dynamic signage."

"We are very excited to be associated with the Narrowcasting Forum in New York. This event is the premier gathering of leaders in this dynamic, emerging segment of marketing communications. All attendees will find the event very exciting and stimulating," said Jake Schroepfer, President and CEO of Electronic Billboard Technology (EBT) in Dallas. EBT is a provider of proprietary hardware and content development in the narrowcasting space.

"The Forum on Narrowcasting is the event for marketers who want to learn about the incredible potential of digital signage systems in retail environments," said Tony Dillon, Vice President of Consumer Messaging for Clarity Visual Systems. "At Clarity, we're focused on bringing this new dynamic media to every retail outlet, mall, or public advertising venue.
