CAP Ventures and GlobalShop Partner to Educate Retailers in the Emerging Narrowcasting Market

(Weymouth, MA) March 6, 2002…CAP Ventures and VNU USA, the producers of GlobalShop, are gearing up to cross-educate brand marketers and advertising executives in Chicago during April 17-20, 2002. CAP Ventures’ Narrowcasting In Public Spaces forum will be held on April 17th at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. The forum will precede the opening day of GlobalShop 2002, which runs April 18-20th at McCormick Place.

“Joining forces will prove to strengthen industry knowledge in the emerging market for digital displays and in-store TV networks by offering attendees a full array of educational sessions in one location,” said Charles A. Pesko, Jr., Managing Director at CAP Ventures.

Now in its tenth year, GlobalShop 2002 is the world’s largest annual store design and in-store marketing show. This 3-day event offers expert advice for achieving retail and brand marketing success, including the technologies and solutions to help generate in-store traffic and sales.

Preceding GlobalShop 2002, Narrowcasting In Public Spaces will focus on networked digital displays and in-store TV, which is the most important new medium for visual retail merchandising, point-of-purchase, and out-of-home advertising. It will also cover high definition electronic displays, digital video processing, high-speed networking, scheduling, and content management. CAP Ventures will keynote the forum with an overview of the narrowcasting industry, a review of a recently completed landmark research study, and a discussion of emerging opportunities. The Forum will include presentations from industry leaders who are featured sponsors of the event, including display technology providers, network operators, and system integrators. Among those scheduled to present are ActiveLight Clarity Visual Systems Coolsign by AdSpace Networks, Electrograph, Scala Broadcast Multimedia and Transvision.

During this one-day educational forum, key players and innovators will talk about the benefits of narrowcasting versus other media. In addition, technology and service companies will provide insights in a dedicated exhibit area, which will allow attendees to network with vendors and view new products and services in this space.

Other sponsors and exhibitors of the Narrowcasting Forum include AlivePromo, Fred Systems, i-Open, Inc., MarketForward, Premier Retail Networks (PRN), Samsung Electronics America, Inc., SKYTRON, Visual Circuits, and Webpavement. All will share experiences highlighting the opportunities and the challenges for vendors, brand managers, retailers, and public site managers.

“We’re very excited to have CAP Ventures provide an educational forum to meet the needs of the narrowcasting marketplace in conjunction with our show. This is the perfect venue for the retail industry to learn about the growing use of digital signage,” explained Karen Schaffner, GlobalShop 2002 Co-Director and Publisher of Display & Design Ideas.
