(Weymouth, MA) February, 13 2002... "Color Management for the Web," a new report from InfoTrends Research Group, highlights Web color management solutions that are making the Internet a more reliable place to shop. Inaccurate color representation on the Web is a major barrier to the expansion of e-commerce. Although the Internet has gained acceptance as a sales medium, most people buy items that are not color-dependant, such as CDs, books, and software. Online shoppers are less likely to purchase products like clothing, furniture, or cosmetics - for which color is all-important. "Every display device presents color slightly differently due to factory calibration, consumer settings, and wear," says Lia Schubert, research analyst, InfoTrends Research Group. "However, most consumers are not aware of the problem until they are met with an unpleasant surprise, for example, a red tie bought online turns out to be hot pink." In addition to consumer e-commerce Web sites, professional service firms like home decorating and commercial textile companies are being targeted as customers for Web color management technology. The new report, available immediately in electronic format, discusses the drivers and barriers to delivering accurate color on the Internet, and provides profiles of Web color management vendors including E-Color, Imation, Pantone, Praxisoft and WayTech. |
