InfoTrends Research Group Launches Internet Imaging Trends(TM) Advisory Service in Response to Burgeoning Market Growth

(Weymouth, MA) February, 28 2000... Sparked by fervent demand for focused research relating to Internet imaging solutions, InfoTrends announced today the launch of a new subscription service dedicated solely to the Internet imaging market. The new service, called Internet Imaging Trends(TM), is available immediately.

"The huge proliferation of online photo communities and online photofinishers that we have seen recently will be followed by an explosion in Internet-connected cameras, back-end imaging solutions for e-commerce sites, technologies enabling rich image display, and other solutions combining imaging and the Internet," says Kristy Holch, principal of InfoTrends Research Group. "The rapid expansion of the Internet imaging space, combined with the need for in-depth analysis has prompted InfoTrends' increased research efforts in this market, complete with a dedicated subscription service."

About the Internet Imaging Market

By InfoTrends' definition, the Internet imaging market includes Web-based imaging services, solutions enabling the rich and accurate display of images via the Internet, and Internet-connected capture and display devices. According to InfoTrends, there were 2.8 million U.S. photo-pushing online photo community members in 1999, and the number of discrete U.S. visitors to online photo community sites is expected to top 135 million by 2003. Over 4 billion U.S. amateur prints will be obtained through online photofinishers in 2005.

"The explosive growth we have seen in consumer-oriented online photo communities and online photofinishers is just the beginning of what's in store for the Internet imaging market" says Lia Schubert, an Internet imaging analyst at InfoTrends Research Group. "Going forward, there will be tremendous opportunity for providers of solutions such as immersive imaging, 3D hardware and software, image servers, and color management, as an increased number of business and consumer transactions occur through the Web, and more and more revenue is driven by online product display."
