# Pages: 123 Introduction This study addresses European in-plant printing establishments, one of the least understood market segments in the document production and management industry. This research is extremely relevant given the growing connectedness of enterprises, the use of content management systems (CMS), and the increasing adoption of electronic document and records management systems (EDRMS). This study examines an extensive range of enterprise printing services, from Central Reproduction Departments to mailrooms that also perform production copying and printing. It offers insights into on-site versus off-site production and the reasons for the “make or buy” dichotomy displayed. We provide direct intelligence on the current and potential role of the in-plant market in the expansion of electronic distribution of internal and external corporate information.
